Join the Dune Defenders on the ancient dunes on the west end of San Bruno Mountain! We’ll be removing ice plant and other invasive plants to benefit the endangered San Francisco Lessingia plant and other native dune flora.
Join Green Foothills and San Bruno Mountain Watch for a walk on the Northeast Ridge of San Bruno Mountain. We’ll gather to look directly into the mountain’s Guadalupe Quarry across the valley.
We will talk about the troubling proposal to develop in the quarry and have chairs and tables set up along with arts and crafts materials for making postcards—if you feel inspired, we hope you’ll write a postcard expressing your vision for the Quarry that can be shared with local elected officials!

Russ Aguilar, San Bruno Mountain Watch’s Interpretive Specialist, will lead a hike to the Nike Missile radar site on San Bruno Mountain from 10AM to 1PM on Saturday, April 26th
The walk will focus on an early-warning radar and missile-control site on the mountaintop, active beginning in the 1950s, as part of Nike anti-aircraft defense systems.

Help remove invasive weeds like poison hemlock, nightshade, bristly ox-tongue, and pincushion plants from the base of Buckeye Canyon! The canyon was damaged by winter storms that caused landslides and erosion. Controlling the invasive plants that have emerged in these impacted areas will help native plants re-establish.

The walk will focus on the Pacific Chorus Frogs that are currently breeding in the canyon. We will discuss the special adaptations these various species have to survive in the San Bruno Mountain ecosystem. We will also explore a trail to see what other kinds of amphibians we can find. Expect to get muddy!
